Scholarship focused on interprofessional education and interprofessional collaborative practice (ICP) is central to advancing CAIPPER’s strategic goals and continuous improvement. CAIPPER highlights UIC's faculty and staff scholarship that focuses on ICP and learning experiences that improve ICP knowledge, skills and outcomes. This spring semester, we have spotlighted a new publication, "Transformative interprofessional education and campus community partnerships to prepare the health professions workforce for advancing health equity" by Dr. Memoona Hasnain, Dr. Valerie Gruss, Dr. Michael J. Koronkowski, Dr. Sonia Oyola, Dr. Susan M. Walsh, Dr. Steven Andes, Khatija Noorullah, Kanwal Haque.

 

This article, Transformative interprofessional education and campus community partnerships to prepare the health professions workforce for advancing health equity, describes the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Interprofessional Approaches to Health Disparities” (IAHD), an interprofessional course designed to prepare UIC health professions students to advance health equity through campus–community partnerships. Findings highlight the course as a scalable model for preparing a collaborative, equity‑focused health workforce.
