Sawyer, Dr. Kathryn Vanderzwan, Christopher Karczmar, Dr. Mike Koronkowski, and Dr. Blase P. Brown.
This Spring quarter, we have spotlighted a new publication “Transforming Oral Health Care Through Interprofessional Education: A Review and Recommendations” by Dr. Sobia Bilal, Dr. Linda M. Kaste and Dr. Scott Tomar, all faculty from the UIC College of Dentistry.
Featured Publication
This article, Utilizing simulation-enhanced interprofessional education to identify differences in healthcare students’ collaborative practice behaviors: A mixed method study, explains the impact of Simulation Enhanced Interprofessional Education (SIM-IPE) on UIC healthcare students’ self-reported collaborative practice behaviors (CPBs) and their perceptions of utilizing CPBs when caring for underserved populations, as well as the differences among professions within interprofessional teams.
Authors include: Dr. Susan Kilroy (Former faculty member, UIC College of Nursing), Dr. Beth Marks (UIC College of Applied Health Sciences), Dr. Kathryn M. Sawyer (UIC College of Pharmacy), Dr. Kathryn Vanderzwan (UIC College of Nursing), Christopher Karczmar (UIC College of Nursing), Dr. Mike Koronkowski (Former faculty member, UIC College of Pharmacy), and Dr. Blase P. Brown (UIC College of Dentistry).
Featured Publication
Dr. Sobia Bilal, Dr. Linda M. Kaste and Dr. Scott Tomar, all faculty from the UIC College of Dentistry, were contributors to the white paper Transforming Oral Health Care Through Interprofessional Education: A Review and Recommendations. In the paper, the authors find that IPE is essential to foster collaborative, patient-centered health care.
